There are signs that you can see that is telling you that it is time to call a roofing contractor. The signs are important for every homeowner and when they are seen it is time to have the roof replaced or repaired so the roof doesn’t continue to decay when it will really cause the homeowners even more problems not to mention money.

A leak in the attic

After a strong wind-driven storm every homeowner should look in the attic for any signs of a roof that is leaking. This could be a good indication that there are damaged shingles, deteriorated flashing, or underlayment that is insufficient. But no matter what this damage is or what it is caused from – you need a roofing contractor to check on any damage and fix it.

Interior or exterior paint

If you notice peeling or blistering of interior or exterior paint, it is a sign that moisture trapped in the house caused by poor ventilation is causing exterior paint peeling or blistering. Blistering as well as peeling off any paint is an indication you have a problem with the roof. Roofing contractors can check on the status of the roof and repair any damage that has been done.

Stains ceiling/walls

If you notice any stains on the interior ceiling and walls, it possibly could be mildew or mold growing. This is damaging to your entire family’s health. These stains or mold can be caused by leaks from the roof or moisture trapped inside and this damage needs to be fixed as quickly as possible.

Sheathing and/or siding

This is caused again by moisture getting into areas that can contribute to decay. Time to call a roofing contractor to find the damage and fix it and make sure it does not happen again.

Damaged shingles

Cracked, dry or missing shingles or broken shingles have reached the end of their life, and it is time to invest in a new roof. Calling a roofing contractor will fix the problem and make sure that no more damage is done.

Dark areas on shingles

Mold, fungus, algae or other vegetation growth can cause stains that are dark on your shingles. You should notice the stains as they stand out on the shingles. This does not necessarily mean you need a new roof, but if you do choose to replace shingles ask the roofing contractor about StainGuard-Protection
